J.R. Shoup was officially established on January 1, 1908. Founded by the Shoup family, the business began during an era when locksmithing was a highly manual craft involving intricate ironwork and skeleton keys. For its first few decades, the shop built a reputation as the go-to provider for residential and commercial security in the growing industrial hub of Akron.

We are proud to offer first class Master Key System design and service. We use computerized key system registries to clearly and concisely layout key systems so there is no risk of accidental cross keying. By doing this we also have the protection that all of the data is backed up daily and stored securely offsite in case of fire or natural disaster.
We offer many different key systems including some that are patent protected to guarantee the key blanks are restricted and no unauthorized keys can be duplicated.
